Valuable debate around the quality of 5G signal in the City of London was sparked after findings obtained by SignalTracker were raised in a meeting of the Corporation of London.
Vodafone customers in London are three times more likely to get a faster 5G Ultra signal than in Birmingham, data from SignalTracker has revealed. In both cities customers of Vodafone's premier service were actually on 4G at least 70% of the time.<br />
SignalTracker tests show that although your mobile device may say 5G, it frequently has a 4G connection. In UK tests, when the 5G icon was displaying, 38% of tests were, in fact, a 4G connection.
Two reasons: first, so consumers can choose the operator that's best for them, and second, to help policymakers understand the state of mobile networks in their country.
